In the early 80’s, having experienced the laissez-faire attitude and lack of creativity and enthusiasm in a Big 8 accounting firm in New York, Employee #0424 had a dream to start his own CPA firm; a firm that offered quality accounting services and personal, prompt attention at a fair and reasonable price. With an optimistic spirit (though somewhat naïve), Employee #0424 jumped on his motorcycle and made the three day trip to California to start a new beginning. Employee #0424 was Glenn Gelman.

In June of 1983, Glenn M. Gelman & Associates was founded and Warren Hennagin was Glenn’s first employee. Today, Warren is a Director in the firm.

In the early years, the firm went through many changes. There were multiple office relocations to accommodate a growing staff, including the hire of Larry Kane in 1987, another Director of the firm today.

In the years that followed, Glenn, Warren and Larry worked tirelessly to build a reputation as a CPA firm with niche expertise in the construction industry. Almost thirty years later, the firm’s first ten construction contractor clients are still clients of the firm.

Today, the firm has forty employees and is recognized as one of Southern California’s leading accounting firms for construction contractors. The firm has received numerous awards and recognition from construction industry leaders and associations and the banking and surety professionals continue to happily refer their clients to the firm.

As a natural part of the firm’s growth, in 2009, Richard Squar joined the firm to lead its’ tax and litigation support departments. The three Directors share a common goal with Glenn and that is to be a firm that offers quality accounting services and personal, prompt attention at a fair and reasonable price. Almost 30 years later, it’s nice to see that some things haven’t changed.
